“hair”
1) Will there be any permanent mark?
Ans:- there will be one straight line in posterior
scalp , which is not visible as graft is harvested in a
manner to allow hair growth in scar.
There will not be any scar anteriorly, where hairs are
grafted.
2) Will they be my own original hairs?
Ans:-
yes, they are your own hairs.
3) Will they grow like normal hairs?
Ans:- yes they will grow with rest of your hairs and
like rest of hairs , you will need to get them dressed
time to time.
4) will they grow after hair cut and shaving of scalp?
Ans:- yes, they are your normal hairs, taken from
one place and grafted at another.
5) Will they stay on my scalp for whole life?
Ans:- yes, most probably. They will stay there as
long your posterior hairs ( donor area) are there. Can be
lost only if you have strong tendency of complete
baldness.
6) Can I apply oil and can I dye my grafted hairs?
Ans:- you can use any oil which is commonly used
for hairs, dyeing with chemicals usually not advised. Even
the products claiming to herbal, may contain harmful
substances, because of poor quality control.
7) what about hair loss in females?
Ans:- hair loss in females are more or less similar
to that in males. It can be because of nutritional
deficiency, illness or some stress. Male pattern baldness
( due to excess male sex hormone) can present both as
development of male like hair patter (recession in side)
or as diffuse hair loss. Hair grafting is useful both in
males and females.
8) Does hair loss in females specify some systemic
problem?
Ans:- yes , it can be . hair loss may be
associated with some generalized problem in both male and
females.
In females , when associated with development of facial (
like beard and moustaches) and body hairs , disturbances
of menstruation and change in breast and sex organs,
indicates some male sex hormone secreting tumor or some
enzyme deficiency , which increases level of male sex
hormones. For such problems always better to consult your
doctor to get cure and better control of hairs.

Nose job:- ( rhinoplasty, septorhinoplasty) :-
About procedure and its course, please click on link
“Nose”
1) What are open and closed approaches for rhinoplasty?
Ans:- in closed approach, incision for modifying
nasal framework, are entirely inside the nose, no visible
mark outside. In open rhinoplasty , the same inner
incisions are connected externally either in mid columella
(middle pillar of nose between nostrils when seen from
basal view) or at lip columella base. Over the time they
heal well and practically there is no visible scar in long
term.
2) which approach is preferable, open or close?
Ans:- preferred approach depends upon amount of
work needed in any particular nose. Both can be done in
any nose, close is preffered for minor modifications. Open
approach provides clear view of entire nasal framework so
fine manipulations are always better with this.
3) How long the surgery takes?
Ans :- may take one and half to two and half hours
, depending upon amount of work needed.
4) General or local anesthesia?
Ans:- local and nerve block anesthesia is
sufficient for most of cases. Short term general
anesthesia is used for osteotomy (cutting and inward
mobilization) of nasal bones.
5) what manipulations usually done in rhinoplasty/
septorhinoplasty?
Ans:- A complete rhinoplasty usually involves
correction of bony and cartilaginous dorsum ( the part of
base of nose visible in front view), tip correction (
narrowing or elevation) , correction of nostrils and lip
nose relationship.
Overall all work needed in a nose are done simultaneously,
depending upon individual requirement.
In , septorhinoplasty, septum is dealt along with rest of
nose, straightening, debulking etc are done , again
decided by need of individual nose. Besides this septum
provides the best possible source of cartilage for dorsum
augmentation or tip work. so septoplasty is often added to
rhinoplasty as it corrects septum as well as provides
autogenous material for use in rest of procedure.
7) what about breathing difficulty?
Ans:- nose has two valve areas , internal and
external. In an otherwise normal looking nose , it’s the
internal valve collapse which causes breathing difficulty
and needs to be widen with spreader graft. In a nose with
drooping tip, external as well as internal valves are
affected and need correction.
8) How much is recovery time after surgery?
Ans:- surgery takes around two and half hours .
recovery from general anaesthesia is almost instant
after that. You may feel little tiredness for a few hours.
Initially nose may look red, slight bruising may be there
and there will be swelling.
After three weeks , nose looks almost normal , in newer
shape, but swelling is still there.
It takes around three months before nose looks almost
normal with all evidences of surgery resolved except very
little amount of edema which is unnoticeable.
9) what are materials used for augmentation?
Ans:- materials used for augmentation can be autogenous (
from patients own body) or artificial materials.
Autogenous :-
Cartilage:
from nasal septum—most commonly used;
conchal cartilage ( from ear);
or rib cartilage.
Bone:- pelvic bone ( iliac creast);
Calvarial ( outer table of skull )
Artificial materials:-
Medpore ;
Silicone
Goretex .

1) What the procedure means?
Ans:- as suggested by name, suction is used to
remove fat from undesired location. Only fat from
subcutaneous plane ( beneath skin ) is removed.
2) How much fat can be taken out?
Ans:- up to 5% of body weight is recommended limit.
Up to 10 % are usually taken out.
3) Can it be used to reduce weight?
Ans:- most of our body weight is because of body
water and the tissue which contains most of body water is
muscle. Fat is the tissue which contains very less amount
of water. So removal of fat only cant help in weight
reduction.
But , for any weight of fat , the volume is very high, so
removal of fat even nominal compared to body weight, gives
a great loss in body volume.
So, liposuction is basically a means of inch loss rather
than weight loss.
4) Will there be any scar mark?
Ans:- in liposuction tiny holes ( a few
millimeters only) are made in skin to allow passage of
suction canula. So the scar is always unnoticeable unless
patient is having very strong tendency of hypertrophic
scarring.
5) Length of surgery and recovery period?
Ans:- length of surgery usually varies between
one to two hours for any given site, but overall time
consumed depends upon amount of fat there.
Patient can walk home same day evening or next morning.
They will have to wear a pressure garment for around one
month to three months for better outcome. Mild bruising is
there which usually resolves in three weeks to six weeks.
6) Is there any chance of regaining fat?
Ans:- fat regain can occur anytime in your life and
it depends upon your life style. Usually fat re
accumulation after liposuction is less.
7) Any difference between male and female?
Ans:- yes, there is difference in distribution and
quality of fat between male and female. In females, fat
mostly lies in subcutaneous plane and is less fibrous, so
easier to take out. Also it produces more dramatic change
in figure.
In males , fat is both in subcutaneous plane as well as
inside abdomen. Also fat is more fibrous. So result of
liposuction, though very useful, is not as dramatic as in
females.
8) what is liposculpture?
Ans:- is modality to modify subcutaneous fat to
give body a particular shape. It includes both removal of
fat ( where it is excess) and injection of removed fat in
locations where it is desired. So both reduction and
augmentation are used to give body a particular shape.
